CLOSE TO 14 teams are expected to sign up in the tough men’s open, as the Vergara–Domogan Street Kids Football Cup gets underway in all weekends starting November 27 to December 18.

Backed by Goshen Land and hatched by the Baguio United Football Club (BUFC), the tournament is expected to draw participation from teams all over Northern Luzon and as far as Metro Manila.

Making the contest tougher in the football tournament aimed at helping street kids is the participation of the Philippine Navy FC confirmed by Goshen Land’s CEO Alex Bangsoy.

Also expected to join are teams coming from De La Salle University and Ateneo De Manila University.

“We are not yet sure kung anong team ang ipapadala ng La Salle and Ateneo but they have already assured us of joining the men’s open,” said BUFC’s Aries Bocalan.

Also seeing action in the tournament is the ladies’ open, the 8 under, 10 under, 12 under, 14 under, and the 16 under age group divisions for boys and girls.

Trophies (champion, first runner up, second runner up and third runner up) and individual awards (best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker, fair play and MVP) are set to be given out in the tournament.

Registration for the men’s open will be at P500, while the ladies’ open will have it at P300. The different age group competitions starting from the 8 under up to 16 under for boys and girls will be at P200.

There will also be a coaches and managers’ meeting on November 27 at Melvin Jones Football Ground, Baguio City. This tournament is organized by the City of Baguio and sponsored by Goshen Land.

Competition for the men’s open will be an 11-aside tournament, while the ladies’ open will be a 7-aside format with games to be played at the Melvin Jones Football grounds and Athletic Bowl.
