POUND-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao's love for Baguio goes beyond his training and extends to helping those in need.

Days for their departure for the United States (US), Pacquiao said he will be returning sometime November to finalize a fun run he has been planning with Baguio runners to raise funds for Baguio's victims of typhoons.

“Gaganapin [yong fun run] sa Baguio tapos ‘yong kikitain ng marathon ay i-donate natin sa mga mahihirap na pamilya sa Baguio, lalo na ‘yung mga nawalan ng bahay sa kasagsagan ng bagyo. Siguro mga 25th of November, mga third week, after ng fight ko,” said Pacquiao.

The pound-for-pound king said the fun run is his way of helping the needy in the Summer Capital where he has trained four times since 2008.

Pacquiao, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, flew to US Saturday night to continue preparing for his upcoming bout with Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao reiterated his promise to give his all in the November 12 bout with Marquez in his recent interviews with the Baguio media after completing his high-altitude training camp in the city.

In November 12, Pacquiao will face Marquez for the third time in one of boxing's most bitter rivalries at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both Pacquiao and Marquez promoted their bout in Manila some weeks back.

Baguio City was the site of Team Pacquiao's three-week training camp which was almost disrupted by Typhoons Pedring and Quiel.

Pacquiao and Roach will be joined by physical and conditioning coach Alex Ariza, cornermen Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri, and sparring partner Jorge Linares in the trip to the US.

Fernandez even added American boxing coach Freddie Roach was impressed on the dedication and training of his ward while he was in the city where legion of fans had already found their time to be with their idol in his various road work, sports events and social work.

“Our objectives in Baguio for the training of the champion were achieved. We can say that Manny had the perfect discipline and dedication in the training and other activities,” Fernandez said.
